Discount deals on beauty products and body sculpting procedures are all over the internet and on TV attracting millions of men and women who crave for youthful look and skin. High-tech methods are now evolving like laser technology to meet the rising needs of people from head to toe make over.
Most of these advertisements are tempting but can also be considered as luxury if you don't know how to control it. And people that are attached to it became more and more conscious about how they look and how others will compliment their clothes and how it matches their shoes and bags and the likes that may deposit insecurity and covetousness in the mind and heart which they may not be aware of.
These anti-aging methods and beauty products are only means of enhancing and caring for our face and body to boost up self esteem and self confidence but wanting it more than anything else is dangerous. But is it really bad to desire beauty? No. However, locking your attention to it and criticizing others thinking that you are better, is undeniably bad.
These anti-aging products can hide or lessen wrinkles and skin blemishes but it cannot remove the trace of anger in the face of a person living in resentment and rage. And how do you obtain true beauty? The answer is simple. Go back to the Maker of the beauty of creation. Take a look on what The Scripture says about true beauty:
In 1 Peter 3:3-4, "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."
The Bible teaches us that true beauty is not based on outward appearance but from within. And that beauty is unfading and values more in the eyes of God. A hilarious story talks about a man meeting a beautiful woman one fine night. Captured by her beauty, the man decided to marry her after a short period of time of dating. On the night of their honeymoon, the man was shocked because the woman removes something from her body one after another. First, her eyelashes, next her contact lens, then her long hair, and finally, her teeth!
Funny it is but true. Physical appearance is deceiving as we can also read in Proverbs 31:30 but the inward beauty of gentleness and meekness which gives a special glow in the face of a person having this is unfading. This beauty cannot be replaced by beauty products but can only be obtained through staying close to God and keeping his Word because there are scars that can only be healed by coming to God who heals the broken-hearted and binds up wounds which cannot be restored by cosmetics and surgery.
